About Jayna

Well, it took me awhile, but finally I figured out what I want to be when I grow up. I’ve been an entrepreneur and professional writer for many years, which has been great fun. But the little fly in the ointment was the constant deadline-driven life I lead as a writer. When you are a writer-for-hire, everything needs to be done NOW, if not sooner. And if you’re like me, and you have an intrinsic need to be the master of your own life and how you spend your time, that m.o. gets a teensy bit old.

Somewhere along the way, I took an intense interest in health. At first it was my own health that captured my attention, because it got shaky there for awhile. And that was right about the time a lot of people in my life were getting sick with cancer and other frightening illnesses. I started looking for solutions as a way to feel more in control in a world where we’re expected to give ownership of our health to a medical community that cannot always solve health problems. I got my own health back in hand. And then I decided to start helping other people too. It was too late to help some of my family members, but I decided I would never sit by again and watch someone suffer through a life-limiting disease without being equipped with some outside-the-box solutions.

In 2007, I completed a certification program and became a Certified Nutraceutical Consultant. This means I am trained to assist individuals with their health and to recommend supplementation that can support the immune system, help to improve overall health, and fight disease. I can also assist health practitioners in implementing advanced nutraceuticals in their clinics. People are doing their own research today and are asking for alternatives to the meds, which have side effects, sometimes cause allergic reactions, impact the health of the liver, and can interact badly with one another. Alternatives do exist today, but our physicians in traditional medicine are trained exclusively in managing illness with pharmaceuticals. I believe our health practitioners should be given the opportunity to guide people toward better nutrition, and should be the stewards of their patients’ health. And I believe that is on the horizon. I can envision a day when people go to their doctors for true preventative care, not just to solve problems and get prescriptions when they are sick.

Today, in fact, health practitioners can attend a nutraceutical training program where they receive continuing education credits and are trained in incorporating nutraceuticals and wellness into their medical practices. (Inquiring minds should contact me at jayna@newvitalitynews.com.) In summary, I’ve become passionate about proactive health, and about seeing people take control and get better, and I’ve gained some tools and resources for helping people to manage their own health. (You are welcome to visit my health information site, www.newvitalitynews.com.) I am also passionate about helping to bridge the gap between traditional medicine and alternative health. Not everyone will agree with me, I’m sure, but I am convinced it will help make the world a better place.

There’s More In addition to all that, I have an awesome husband and three beautiful kids. I’m heavily involved in the kids’ activities (scout leader, soccer mom, etc.), have phenomenal friends, and am blessed in more ways than I can count. I try to wake up every day with a thankful heart and a goal to have a positive impact on whomever I come into contact with that day.

To your health!

Ms. Jayna
